What is the Mission of RestartHer Academia?

At RestartHer Academia, every woman finds the space and the tools to launch and grow her business. We enable women entrepreneurs and aspiring business owners to acquire and develop skills in all the core areas of business management.
To achieve this, we’ve created a platform of advanced training courses led by qualified instructors with extensive, proven field experience.

We discussed this live on LinkedIn with Alessandra Lomonaco, creator and founder of RestartHer Academia, and all the course instructors featured on the platform. The event was moderated by Elonora Chioda, journalist and former editor-in-chief of an innovation-focused magazine.

What’s the State of Women’s Entrepreneurship in Italy?

Women’s entrepreneurship in Italy is growing. According to InfoCamere, as of the end of September 2022, there were 2,000 innovative startups led by women in Italy—a 40% increase in two years.

The pandemic encouraged many women to launch innovative startups. These numbers don’t include all other forms of female self-employment (such as VAT-registered freelancers or business entities), which also increased in recent years as a response to job loss.

Entrepreneurship and self-employment are booming phenomena.

The trend of the “great resignation” (mass quitting of traditional jobs) has pushed many to seek deeper meaning in their work.
This third dimension—where personal and professional life are blended in a hybrid, socially attuned lifestyle—is increasingly common across generations.
Once associated with millennials and Gen Z, today even people over 40 and 50 are part of this historic shift.

Women under 35, and those in the so-called “sandwich generation” (balancing care for children, aging parents, and work), who still often hold more precarious or lower-paid jobs—or none at all—now have new opportunities.
Entrepreneurship may be the career path many women have yet to consider.

RestartHer Academia as a Response to Women’s Training and Networking Needs

The European Parliament states that women represent Europe’s most valuable and underutilized entrepreneurial and leadership resource. Supporting female entrepreneurs and self-employed women would strengthen Europe’s competitiveness and create new jobs.
EU reports reveal an important insight: more women in the digital workforce could boost GDP by €16 billion.

To promote women’s entrepreneurship, action is needed on three fronts:

  • Training: STEM, financial, and business skills are crucial for launching a successful and sustainable venture.
  • Mentoring: Guidance from experienced mentors fosters an entrepreneurial mindset focused on risk-taking, innovation, and leadership.
  • Female Networking: Women-centered networks offer personal and professional growth opportunities that can make all the difference during business creation and launch.

And that’s the motivation behind the creation of RestartHer Academia—to provide women entrepreneurs, or those wishing to become one, with a space for learning, networking, and growth.
We don’t want anything to stand in the way of a woman with a business idea and her ability to realize it—in the simplest, fastest, and safest way possible.
